Devolution
Let the Knights of the Round Table rise again
To wage war with brandished sword
From a time when men were men
The knight-errant slayed the mythic beast
Disinter Sir Lancelot to hear his opinion on the use of tomahawk cruise missiles
Or nuclear proliferation
Raid the apothecary
And loose the viper’s venom upon the sheltered world
Waking the long forgotten titans
And ushering in the reign of Zeus
Forget not the unforgettable
In expecting the mobiüs to always flip back
Unsplit the atom
And reforest the desert
Put the polar ice caps in the freezer
Before rearming the Wild West gunner
Sending him to hunt the wooly mammoth
Let the saber tooth rule congress
For Anno Domini cedes bit control of yesteryear
Recongregate the diaspora
Under the westward setting sun
I want to be a colonist
And survey the Louisiana purchase
Grind the great pyramids to sand
And see Niagara before it fell
Sharecrop the future
Once you dig your own well
Running your Hummer on whale oil
And go to the moon in a 4 horsepower carriage
Debbie does a dinosaur
Sylvester Stallone meets the primordial soup
You want to fix the past?
Devolution is the only way.
