Funeral
What would I say at your funeral?
The death of a friend, my best friend
If shocked out of the prime of her life
Would I tell them I loved you, my sister
That you always treated me the best
Or how I admired you, your strength, your wit, your charm?
Sobbing about things I never told you
How, god, you understood me
And now I don't know what I'll do
Next year they'd be your balloons
Let go at that spot which always makes me think of you
What would I choose to say at your funeral
I could blather on for days
How glad I am I knew you
That 10 years from now, I'll still know just how many days
Since the moment we...
Since the moment I...lost...you...
I know exactly what I would say at your funeral
But I'd rather say nothing
And have said it all to you.© 2009 Eugene Aarons-Cooke
